Q. Can I accept financial donations in lieu of pet food or litter?

A. Financial Donations are VERY welcomed, our request is that they donate either by check or online. Their cancelled check would be receipt for them and we will send them a donation acknowledgment. Any donations by check (please, NO CASH mailed) payable to:

Pet Alliance
SW Ohio Pet Food Pantry
1250 W. Ohio Pike, Suite 201
Amelia, OH 45102-1239

If they would like to make a donation online, they can do so via Pay Pal by visiting www.PetFoodAid.org.

Q. Can we put fliers in mailboxes?

A. My understanding is that anything that goes inside a mailbox must have a 1st class stamp on it. Please do not put flyers inside the mailbox. You can attach them to the post or any other manner that does not interfere with the mail carriers access to the mailbox.

Q. Am I allowed to solicit door-to-door?

A. The acceptable guidelines for approaching homeowners depends on the individual neighborhood. In many neighborhoods, flyers attached to the outside of a mailbox are utilized by contractors (e.g.: roofers, lawn care). School Children go door to door to sell items for fundraiser's.

There are some neighborhoods that forbid door to door solicitations (I don't know if that also means charitable requests). Some neighborhoods have web sites and bulletin boards that are utilized to contact homeowners.

Please verify with any Homeowner's Association that exist in the neighborhood that you will be targeting, what is acceptable for that neighborhood.

Q. I'm volunteering with the Disney Give-a-Day Get-a-Day Program and will not be able to collect donations on my registered date. How can I reschedule?

A. If you find that you do not have enough time to distribute flyers and then give people enough time before your pick up date, you can reschedule your pick up time by accessing the email from Disney and following the link for rescheduling to a later date. Contact Anita at acbarron@PetAlliance.org or 513-753-3270 if you have any questions.

Q. How do I download a copy of the Adobe Acrobat Reader?

A. Click this link if you need to download and install a copy of the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Q. I'm not able to make the scheduled drop-off times, how do I get my donations to the Pet Food Pantry?

A. All Deliveries MUST be received by a Pet Food Pantry volunteer to receive credit for your volunteer time. Please help the Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry be a "Good Neighbor" at our Storage Facility by only dropping off pet food when there is a volunteer to unlock our storage unit and store the food appropriately.

Please complete your Pet Food Bank Tally Sheet prior to arriving so we can expedite your delivery time and get back in the warm vehicles. The Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry is located at:

Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry
(located at Queen City Self-Storage)
4775 Red Bank Expressway
Cincinnati, Ohio 45227

Contact Anita at acbarron@PetAlliance.org or 513-753-3270 if you have need to schedule a make-up date to drop-off your donations.

Q. Can I customize the flyer to promote the collection of food for the Pet Food Pantry?

A. We are open to your suggestions / revisions that you may have for future flyers but to ensure a consistent message, Pet Alliance must approve any revisions to the flyer outside the customization we have provided.

Q. What are some of the other Pet Alliance Programs?

A. I founded the non-profit organization, Pet Alliance, in 2006 with the mission to create programs that assist pet owners and Rescues in saving more homeless animals. In 2008 I created www.SpayOhio.org, a referral service for low-cost spay/neuter services. In 2009 I launched www.MicrochipUSA.org to help lost pets

Q. Does my entire family have to drop-off the donations at the Pet Food Pantry to get credit for the Disney Give-a-Day Get-a-Day Program?

A. We strongly suggest you consider bringing as many of the participants as schedules permit. Especially for the children, the delivery can give the children a sense of pride that for each bag/can of food they carried into the Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry facility, they are "Making a Difference" in other's life. The smiles we see in that delivery effort tell the story of how this simple gesture is having long term positive affects for that child.

Everyone is on the "Honor System" and we will trust that each family will be true to the spirit of the Disney Give-a-Day Get-a-Day opportunity. In addition to it "being the right thing to do", children are learning lessons (positive or negative) from this opportunity that they will incorporate into their future, the "Honor System" lesson is crucial for the life building blocks of each child.

It is NOT a big deal if anyone was unable to participate due to illness or schedule conflicts, we would just need to reschedule their date/time to volunteer to reserve their ticket to have the opportunity to qualify for their free Disney ticket.

We are so thankful to Disney for this opportunity to meet so many wonderful families in our area. In addition to the GREAT family project that EVERYONE in the family can participate in, we have heard so many comments from the parents that:

  • This gives them the perfect opportunity to instill in their children the need to volunteer to help a fellow human who is struggling to keep their beloved family pet.
  • This Volunteer Opportunity has revealed to their family how wonderful people in their community are, when asked they gladly open their pockets and their hearts to contribute to helping another living being in need.
  • Other parents comment on the opportunity to instill in their children the importance of being true to their commitments that they make and that "rewards" for their work will come either directly (Disney tickets) or indirectly (the priceless feeling of "making a difference" in someone else's life, both 2 and 4 legged). The priceless feeling will be with the children (and adults) for a lifetime, while the Disney ticket will come and go.

Your efforts to help us help struggling pet owners keep their pets is greatly appreciated.
